Why Is My Child's Account Suspended or Closed?

Here are the situations where this happens - most are fixable.

1. A New Account Where Verification Was Never Completed

If a child under 13 signs up and parent verification is never completed, the account is closed 30 days after signup. We send a confirmation email to the parent when this happens.

2. An Existing Account Flagged for Re-Consent

Sometimes an existing account needs fresh parental consent (for example, after a policy change or an age correction). In that case:

  • The parent gets a 30-day window to complete verification
  • If the window passes, the account is suspended - sign-in and any new activity are blocked, but all data is preserved

3. You Declined a Verification Request

If you explicitly decline verification, your child's account is blocked right away, and if verification is never completed the account is eventually closed like an unverified new account. Changed your mind? You can restart verification any time before closure.

Getting Back In

  • A suspended account is restored as soon as the parent completes verification - nothing is lost
  • If the parent never re-engages, the account is closed 180 days after suspension
